In general, the application period for a controlled hunt opens early in the year and ends May 15, 2025, with results available by June 12, 2025.

General Hunting Seasons of Oregon (and Exact 2025 Dates)

  • General Archery: Late August through late September | Aug. 30 - Sept. 28, Nov. 15 - Dec 7, Nov. 22 - Dec. 14

  • Controlled 100 Series Hunts (Eastern Oregon): Dates vary by unit, but they typically land in the fall between October and early November. Check the Department of Fish and Wildlife for more exact dates.

  • Youth Controlled Hunts: Special windows in early fall and late November | Sept. 29 - Oct. 15, Nov. 15 - Nov. 26

ELK SEASON

  • General Archery (Statewide): Late August to late September | Aug. 30 - Sept 28

  • Any Legal Weapon (Western Units): November 8 – 28, varying by unit

  • Any Legal Weapon (Eastern Units): November 8 – 16, specific to certain units

  • Controlled 200 Series Elk Hunts: Dates vary based on weapon type and location, so refer to official regulations

BLACK BEAR SEASON

DOVE SEASON

  • Zone 1: Sept. 1 – 30 (first half), Nov. 15 - Dec. 14 (second half)

BAND-TAILED PIGEON

  • Statewide: Short, early fall season typically mid to late September | Sept. 15 - 23
